Membership Information

The membership of the Bronx County Bar Association is divided into several different types:
 

Champion Member: Any member of the Bar of the State of New York, in good standing. In order to maintain the integrity of the Bronx County Bar Association, we ask you to consider becoming a Champion Member.  A Champion contributes an additional $125.00 tax deductible donation when paying annual dues and is recognized as a Champion of the Bronx County Bar Association on our website.

Sustaining Member: Any member of the Bar of the State of New York, in good standing. In order to maintain the integrity of the Bronx County Bar Association, we ask you to consider becoming a Sustaining Member.  A Sustaining Member contributes an additional $50.00 tax deductible donation when paying annual dues and is recognized as a Sustaining Member of the Bronx County Bar Association on our website.

Regular Member: Any member of the Bar of the State of New York, in good standing.

Government, Court, or Public Employee: Any member of the Bar of the State of New York, in good standing, employed by the Government, Court or otherwise considered a public employee.

Student Member: Any student currently enrolled in any approved Law School shall be eligible for student membership.

Retired Member: Any retired member of the Bar of the State of New York.

Associate Member:  Any member or retired member of the Bar of any other state, territory, District of Columbia or foreign country.

Affiliate Non-Lawyer Member*: 

• A paralegal employed by or who is actively seeking employment by a lawyer, law firm, governmental agency or other entity;
• A law office administrator or staff member who is employed by a lawyer, law firm, governmental agency or other entity;
• An individual who is a title company agent, licensed private investigator, banker, licensed insurance broker/agent, licensed real estate broker, salesperson or member of another law related occupation approvded by the Board of Directors;
• An individual employed by a law school as a staff member or administrator; or
• An individual holding a JD but not admitted to practice law.
• *This member is not eligible to vote or for nomination or election to the Board of Directors or Executive Board. This member will receive regular membership emails with court updates and events, may attend all events, may attend CLE programs at no cost and provided access to the bar association library and computer access.

Legal Employer Member**: 

• A lawyer, law firm, governmental agency or other legal entity seeking to post an open attorney position adveretisement on the Bronx County Bar Association website.
• **This member is not eligible to vote or for nomination or election to the Board of Directors or Executive Board. May post open position advertisements once every three (3) months.

Membership: 

• Annual dues are fixed by the Board of Directors and payable by the first of July each year.
• The Bronx County Bar Association maintains an office in the Bronx County Supreme Court building in room 124 which is also the location of the Library which is used by members to meet clients, wait for court appearances and do research. The Association also maintains a Lawyers Lounge in the Bronx Hall of Justice for members only, accessed by a key card. Membership dues includes a library upkeep fee of $10.00.
